How to play
The basics
Every puzzle gives you a row of letters, and exactly one of them doesn't belong. The blanks show how long the real word is.
Tap letters to drop them into the blanks; tap a placed letter to send it back. There's no submit button — the moment the word is right, it confirms itself and the bluff is caught.
No lives, no fail screen, no clock running out. Rearrange as often as you like — a miss costs nothing.
On the board
Mixes the letters for a fresh look. Free, as often as you like.
Sends every placed letter back to the row at once.
Opens your hints. Tap it again to put them away.
Stuck? Skip appears on the board after a couple of misses, and it's always waiting at the bottom of the hint bubble. Skipped levels stay open — come back whenever you like. A level solved after a skip earns half points.
Hints
Hints narrow the search. They never name the bluff — the final call is always yours.
Tells you whether the bluff is a vowel or a consonant.
Proves two letters real. You can use it more than once on the same word.
Locks the first letter of the answer into place.
Narrows the bluff down to one of two letters.
Hints you own are used first. When you run out, a hint costs coins on the spot — no trip to the shop. Solving a word without any hint earns a bonus.
Scoring
Points scale with how devious the bluff is — the sneakier the impostor, the bigger the catch.
Solve a word without hints for extra points.
Quick catches earn more. It's only ever a bonus — take all the time you want and the base points are still yours.
Replaying a finished level is just for fun. It can't change your score.
The Evidence File
Each letter you catch is filed in the chapter's Evidence File.
Finish a chapter and the game draws letters from your file for one last word. No bluff this time — any real word that uses them all counts.
The Daily Impostor
Every day brings one puzzle, the same for everyone, with exactly one solution. No hints here — the boards stay pure.
Catch the daily bluff on consecutive days to build a streak. Milestones along the way pay out coins and streak restores.
Missed a day? Tap it on the calendar and spend a streak restore to reopen that day's puzzle. Catch its bluff and your streak is repaired.
Fill every day of a calendar month for the biggest prize. Restored days count.
Quests and boards
Three goals every week, refreshed on Monday. They fill as you play; finish all three to open the weekly chest.
Four boards: Daily, Monthly, All time, and Streaks.
The Daily, Quests, Boards and Shop open once you finish chapter 1. The first chapter is just you and the puzzles.
Tips from the case files
A lonely Q looks guilty, but the best bluffs are everyday letters that seem to belong. Don't trust a letter just because it's common.
Pick a suspect, ignore it, and see whether the rest makes a word. If nothing comes, release your suspect and try the next.
A new order breaks old assumptions. It's free, so use it.
Letters travel in pairs — CH, TH, ST, ER. Find a pair that fits and the letter left without a partner starts to look suspicious.
Profile is the cheapest hint and often all you need. Save Lineup for the truly stubborn cases.
In the campaign, any real word that fills the blanks counts. Only the Daily insists on a single solution.
A fresh look tomorrow beats a stubborn hour today. The level will wait.
